Full-time | On-site Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Optical Fabrication Specialist with strong Continuous Polishing (CP) experience to join a precision optics manufacturing operation in Albany, NY. This position is ideal for an experienced optical fabrication professional with extensive hands-on knowledge of continuous polishing, precision grinding, lapping, and optical surface finishing. The successful candidate will play a key role in producing high-precision optical components while supporting process control, troubleshooting, quality, and continuous improvement of optical fabrication processes. Key Responsibilities Set up, operate, and optimize continuous polishing (CP) equipment and processes . Perform and support precision grinding, lapping, and polishing of optical components. Monitor polishing parameters, including slurry, pitch/pads, pressure, timing, and process conditions. Troubleshoot polishing and surface-quality issues and recommend process adjustments. Produce optical components to tight specifications for flatness, surface quality, thickness, and dimensional tolerances. Read and interpret optical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing travelers. Perform in-process inspection and measurement of precision optical components. Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Metrology teams to resolve manufacturing issues. Support process improvements designed to increase consistency, yield, and production efficiency. Train and provide technical guidance to optical fabrication personnel as needed. Maintain accurate manufacturing and process documentation. Qualifications Strong hands-on experience with Continuous Polishing (CP) is required. Extensive experience in precision optical fabrication, polishing, grinding, or lapping. Strong understanding of optical surface quality, flatness, and precision manufacturing tolerances. Experience working with precision optical glass, glass-ceramics, crystals, or similar materials. Ability to read and interpret optical drawings and specifications. Experience with optical metrology and precision measurement equipment preferred. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and provide technical guidance to other members of the fabrication team. Previous experience in aerospace, defense, semiconductor, laser, or other high-precision optics manufacturing environments is highly desirable. A degree in Optical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering is a plus; however, extensive hands-on optical fabrication and continuous polishing experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Compensation Salary:

$95,000 - $115,000 annually, depending on experience.

Relocation:

A $5,000 relocation bonus is available for qualified candidates willing to relocate to the Albany, NY area.
