Job Description

Locksmith technician or apprentice to work at our Monroe location. You will be responsible for assisting all walk in customers of the keyshop as well as maintaining shop inventory. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Customer Service:
Greet and assist walk-in customers, identify their security needs, provide quotes, and process retail sales.
Key Duplication:
Accurately duplicate residential, commercial, and automotive keys using manual and electronic key-cutting machines.
Bench Locksmithing:
Perform in-shop technical work, including rekeying lock cylinders, pinning cylinders to code, and assembling lock hardware.
Job Staging:
Organize, key, and prepare hardware packages for outgoing field installation jobs to ensure road technicians have exactly what they need.
Inventory Management:
Maintain and organize the storefront display, track key blank inventory, and report low stock levels.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate customer records and key system compliance.
Qualifications and Skills Experience:
1-2 years of experience in a locksmith shop, hardware store, or mechanical repair role is preferred (we are willing to train the right person).
Technical Aptitude:
Strong mechanical skill and ability to work precisely with small components (pins, springs, cylinders).
Customer Skills:
Friendly, professional demeanor with excellent verbal communication skills.
Detail-Oriented:
Ability to read key codes, follow complex pinning charts, and keep outgoing jobs organized.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Commercial Locksmith Experience Preferred Certificates and Licenses:
  • Valid driver's license
  • Drug free
  • Clean driving record
