Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing precise manual machining operations to produce high-quality metal components and parts. Your expertise in reading blueprints, setting up machines, and utilizing a variety of machining tools will be essential to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of production processes. Responsibilities Operate manual machining equipment such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines with precision and safety in mind. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to produce parts that meet strict specifications. Use measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines for quality control and measurement verification. Set up and calibrate manual machines, ensuring proper tooling and fixtures are used for each job. Perform routine maintenance on machining tools and equipment to maintain optimal performance. Apply mechanical knowledge and blueprint interpretation skills to troubleshoot issues during machining processes. Follow safety protocols diligently, including the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other manufacturing machinery. Assist with assembly processes when required, ensuring parts are correctly fitted and finished according to specifications. Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, measurements taken, and quality inspections conducted throughout production runs. Experience Proven experience in manual machining operations using lathes, grinders, mills, or similar equipment. Strong understanding of blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation. Familiarity with CNC machining concepts such as CNC programming (G-code), M-code, Fanuc controls, or CAM programming is a plus but not mandatory. Knowledge of measurement techniques using precision measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Ability to perform basic math calculations related to machining dimensions and tolerances. Experience working with manufacturing environments that utilize lean manufacturing principles is advantageous. Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of metal machining processes including plastics injection molding is desirable.
