This role performs standard machine setups, operates equipment independently, and ensures conformance to specifications. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Independently operate manual and/or CNC machines Perform standard machine and tooling setups Verify and approve first article parts prior to full production run Read and interpret blueprints, tolerances, and routings Select appropriate tooling and materials for jobs Perform precision in-process and final inspections to ensure ongoing conformance to specifications Adjust offsets and tooling to maintain part quality Stop production and escalate immediately if parts fall out of tolerance or process stability is compromised Identify machining issues and resolve routine problems Proactively identify opportunities to improve cycle time, reduce scrap, and optimize tooling and fixturing Accurately record labor, quantities, inspections, scrap, and process notes in the ERP system in accordance with standard procedure Follow established job release, routing, and transaction processes without bypassing system controls Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards Assist with cross‑training and supporting Machinist 1s Other related duties as assigned. Leadership & Accountability Model professional machine discipline and quality ownership for Machinist 1 Provide guidance and constructive feedback to lower-level machinists during setups and troubleshooting Escalate capacity, material, or process risks proactively to supervision Demonstrate personal accountability by following standard work, safety rules, and quality expectations consistently Take responsibility for actions, work quality, and accurate reporting, and avoid shifting responsibility to others or the process Communicate issues, mistakes, or concerns promptly so they can be addressed early Support team success by completing work that is ready for the next operation and does not create rework for others Show a willingness to learn, accept feedback, and improve skills over time Understand that "doing the job" includes how the work is performed, communicated, and handed off to others Qualifications & Skills Strong blueprint/drawing reading and tolerance interpretation Proficient use of precision measuring tools Solid understanding of feeds, speeds, and tooling Ability to troubleshoot common machining issues Effective communication and teamwork skills Experience & Education 3-5 years of machining experience High school diploma or equivalent required Machinist certificate, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent experience preferred Vocational machining training or apprenticeship coursework preferred. Work Environment Work is performed in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to noise, moving machinery, varying temperatures, dust, and odors. This position requires prolonged standing, repetitive hand and wrist movements, use of precision tools, and occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds.
