Job Description

CNC Lathe Machinist Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
Location:
Irvine / Lake Forest, CA, just off the 5 Freeway We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to join our AS9100-certified machine shop in a full-time, in-person position. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience setting up and operating 2-axis CNC lathes with FANUC controls to produce high-precision aerospace components. Key Responsibilities Independently set up and operate 2-axis CNC lathes with FANUC controls to manufacture precision aerospace components. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T requirements, CAD files, work instructions, and production documentation . Select and install appropriate cutting tools, tool holders, workholding, and raw materials for each job. Set and adjust work and tool offsets as required to maintain dimensional accuracy and product conformity. Make minor G-code/program adjustments and machine-offset corrections as needed. Perform precision machining in compliance with AS9100 quality standards and customer requirements. Produce parts to required tolerances, including maintaining dimensional accuracy of ±0.0003" . Take jobs through machine setup, first article inspection (FAI), in-process inspection, and production runs . Machine parts for both low-volume prototype runs and high-volume production runs . Inspect and verify parts using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauge pins, thread gauges, and optical comparator . Identify and correct common setup, tooling, offset, dimensional, and quality issues to maintain production requirements. Maintain accurate inspection and production documentation, including FAI and dimensional inspection records. Prepare raw materials and maintain accurate stock, material identification, and material handling. Perform routine machine and work-area maintenance, maintain cleanliness, and promptly report equipment problems or malfunctions. Collaborate with machinists, supervisors, and other team members to meet production schedules and quality objectives . Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and quality-focused work environment. Qualifications & Requirements 5+ years of experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC lathes . Strong experience with FANUC controls . Solid understanding of GD&T, blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files . Experience machining tight-tolerance precision components , preferably in aerospace or another precision-manufacturing environment. Ability to perform accurate tool and work-offset adjustments and make minor machine/program edits as required. Strong precision measurement and inspection skills using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gauge pins, thread gauges, optical comparator, and related inspection equipment. Experience performing or supporting First Article Inspections (FAI) . Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality. Ability to identify and resolve common machining, tooling, setup, offset, and dimensional issues. Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the production team. Ability to work with both prototype and production machining requirements .
