Full Job Description Job Description:
Arnold Tool and Manufacturing Inc. is seeking an experienced Machinist to join our first-shift machine shop team in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This position will operate CNC and manual lathes, mills, grinders, and a CNC plasma cutter. This position is responsible for setting up and operating manual lathes to produce high-quality, precision parts according to prints and specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and takes pride in craftsmanship.
Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual lathes to machine metal components to precise tolerances Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.) Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections Adjust machine settings to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues Accurately complete production and quality documentation Follow all company safety policies and quality standards Work collaboratively with supervisors and other shop personnel Program and operate CNC-equipped manual lathes, including entering and adjusting programs to meet part specifications and tolerances Qualifications Associates Degree / High school diploma / or GED required 3+ years of experience operating manual lathes in a machine shop environment preferred Ability to read and understand blueprints and basic GD&T Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, and materials Proficient with precision measuring tools Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, and measurements) Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines Programming experience Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to [50 lbs] safely Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, metal chips, and cutting fluids (PPE provided) Schedule & Work Environment On-site machine shop environment PPE required (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe footwear)
