Machinist (III/IV) Metalcraft Manufacturing Arden, NC Job Details Full-time From $30 an hour 10 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description CNC Machinist IV We are seeking an expert Level 4 CNC Machinist to join our team. This role is crucial in maintaining our production standards, high-efficiency workflows, and tight tolerance parts. As a Senior Machinist, you will be responsible for end-to-end CNC processing—from complex offline/online programming and setup to operation and inspection across both CNC Lathes and CNC Mills. You will also serve as a technical problem solver on the floor, handling root cause analysis, rework procedures, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities Setup & Operation:

Perform complex, precision setups and operate multi-axis CNC Lathes and CNC Mills (specifically HAAS, Nakamura, Mori Seiki, and Okuma equipment).

Programming & Optimization:

Interpret engineering drawings, CAD/CAM models, and G-code/M-code to create, edit, and optimize programs directly at the machine control or via CAM software.

Multi-Machine Management:

Efficiently manage and run multiple machines simultaneously without compromising quality or safety.

Inspection & Quality Assurance:

Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections on tight tolerance components using a wide variety of precision measuring instruments (CMM, micrometers, calipers, bore gages, optical comparators, etc.).

Process Improvement & Root Cause Analysis:

Investigate process variations, tool wear, and non-conformances. Perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) to prevent recurring issues.

Rework & Troubleshooting:

Create step-by-step rework instructions and execute non-routine rework procedures on high-value parts as needed.

Maintenance & Shop Safety:

Perform routine preventative maintenance on assigned machines, maintain a clean/safe work environment, and strictly follow shop safety protocols.

Qualifications & Skills Experience Level:

7+ years of hands-on machining experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment (qualifying as Level 3/Level 4 mastery).

Machine Expertise:

Demonstrated expertise with HAAS, Nakamura-Tome, Mori Seiki (DMG MORI), and Okuma CNC machines (Lathes and Mills).

Programming:

Advanced knowledge of G-code/M-code programming and/or CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Esprit).

Mathematics:

Strong background in applied shop mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry.

Print Reading:

Advanced ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Tooling & Workholding:

Deep understanding of cutting tool selection, feeds/speeds, custom jig/fixture design, and workholding setup. High attention to detail and strong commitment to high quality/low scrap rates. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to mentor or assist lower-level machinists on complex setups. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the shop floor for the duration of the workday (>8+ hours). Ability to lift and handle parts, raw materials, or tooling weighing up to 50 lbs safely. Good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and visual acuity to perform precision inspections. Education High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree in Precision Machining or Vocational Certification preferred.
