Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tool Room Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision tools, fixtures, and machine components essential for production processes. Your expertise in CNC machining, manual machining, and blueprint interpretation will ensure that all tooling meets strict quality standards and specifications. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC machines such as CNC lathes, mills, and grinders using Fanuc or similar control systems to produce precision parts. Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications to determine machining requirements. Program CNC machines utilizing G-code, M-code, and CAM programming software to create accurate tooling components. Perform precision measurement using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy. Conduct machine setup, calibration, and adjustments to optimize machining processes for quality and efficiency. Maintain a clean and organized tool room environment while adhering to safety protocols during machine operation and tool handling. Inspect finished tools and components for quality compliance through CNC quality inspection techniques and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Troubleshoot machining issues, perform manual machining tasks on lathes or mills when necessary, and make adjustments for continuous improvement. Maintain detailed records of work performed, machine maintenance logs, and tooling inventory. Requirements Proven experience as a Tool Room Machinist or in a similar precision machining role within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in CNC programming languages including G-code, M-code, and Fanuc controls; experience with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks or CAD programs is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of machining tools such as grinders, drills, hand tools, power tools, and tooling management. Ability to read mechanical blueprints accurately and interpret mechanical blueprints for complex parts. Mechanical knowledge with an understanding of metal properties, manufacturing processes, and precision measurement techniques. Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus. Excellent skills in measurement using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments for quality control purposes. Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine settings. Experience with manual machining operations on lathes or mills when required for prototype or repair work. Knowledge of GD&T principles to ensure parts meet design specifications accurately. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
