Possess the ability of operating and performing set ups on CNC Lathes with sub-spindles, live tooling with Y axis capability and working knowledge of bar feeders. Responsible for the proper use and maintenance of all measuring tools and devices used in inspection of allponents. Works under general supervision. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations. Hours for this position are 3:45pm

This position qualifies for a shift differential and a sign on bonus. Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to: Performs setups on multi-tasking Turning Centers. Experience with Okuma and Fanuc controls. Understanding of Virtual Gibbs and manual programming (G codes/M codes). Familiar with the operation of DNC systems. Machines and/or fabricating precision tools and fixturing to tight tolerances andplex geometries based on specifications. Solid understanding of mechanical design and dimensioning principles which includes reading blueprints and geometric tolerancesprehension. Demonstrates a high level of knowledge in programming and overall machine operation. Understands material properties (rates of expansion, strength, hardness) and special machining requirements. Measures, inspects and troubleshoots dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications. Completes routine and priority tasks defined by management to ensure on time deliveries. Performs periodic machine maintenance such as but not limited to dismantling or partly dismantling machines and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in scraping and fitting parts. Comply with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas. In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for: Meetingpany standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is inpliance with all Company policies and prores. Physical Activities:

Work may be active, could stand or sit for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times. Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally. While performing the duties, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Some employees maye into contact with potentially harmful chemicals or fumes, but ventilation systems normally minimize any harmful effects, and the work areas may be noisy at times. Requirements

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar position preferred plus training in CNC Programming

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience CNC certification or CNC Trade School, a major plus

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of Lean Principles including "Just in Time", and Setup Time ction a plus Prototyping experience a plus Strong sense of ownership and work ethic, written and verbalmunication skills Proficientputer skills is a must Strong ability to work well in a group atmosp, andply with high quality standards. Strong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing production priorities. Hourly pay rate for this position is $28.00
