Machinist / Toolmaker Posted on July 7, 2025 July 7, 2025 by JMJ Phillip We are seeking a skilled machinist / toolmaker to join a precision-driven manufacturing team. This role involves working with advanced tools and machinery to create, modify, and repair parts and tooling with a high level of accuracy. The ideal candidate has strong technical abilities, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive mindset when it comes to maintaining quality and productivity standards. Position Responsibilities Precision Machining Set up and operate manual and CNC machinery to fabricate or modify parts to exact specifications Interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications Toolmaking and Maintenance Build, repair, and maintain tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in production Perform preventative maintenance on tools and machines to ensure optimal performance Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve tooling designs and functionality Quality Control and Documentation Follow quality assurance protocols and contribute to continuous improvement efforts Maintain accurate records of work performed, tooling modifications, and equipment maintenance Ensure compliance with safety procedures and industry standards Prerequisites 3+ years of experience in a machinist, toolmaker, or similar hands-on manufacturing role Proficient with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Experience operating lathes, mills, grinders, and other standard shop equipment Strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to quality craftsmanship Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required) Journeyman Toolmaker Certification CNC Machining Certification OSHA Safety Certification What the Role Offers Competitive salary range of $62,000 to $75,000 annually Hands-on role with opportunities for skill development and technical growth Stable, permanent position with long-term advancement potential Work environment that values precision, teamwork, and safety 22% permanent placement fee Why Roslyn Heights?
