Employment Type:
Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Shift:

Position Summary We manufacture and overhaul precision components for turboprop engines. We are looking for a CNC Machinist who can set up and run Haas VF-2 and Haas ST30 to produce close-tolerance parts in aerospace alloys. This is a hands-on role for a machinist who owns their parts from setup through final inspection. We are a laid back company with a shop in beautiful McDonald, TN. Get in on the ground floor of an exciting company with lots of opportunities to grow. Key ResponsibilitiesSetup & Operation Perform complete setups on Haas VMCs (VF series) and Haas turning centers (ST/TL series), including workholding, fixturing, tool loading, tool offsets, and work coordinate systems. Run production and one-off jobs to blueprint, holding tolerances routinely to ±0.0005" and surface finishes to print callouts. Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and coolant strategy for the material and operation. Make in-process adjustments to offsets and program parameters to hold tolerance as tooling wears. Operate multiple machines concurrently when cycle times allow. Programming Read, interpret, edit, and troubleshoot G-code and M-code at the Haas control. Use Haas conversational programming for straightforward parts. Prove out new programs safely (single block, feed override, dry run) and communicate program corrections back to Manufacturing Engineering. Create toolpaths in Fusion 360 for new and revised parts. Blueprint Reading & Inspection Interpret engineering drawings Perform in-process inspection using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, indicators, pin and thread gauges, optical comparator, and surface finish testers. Identify nonconforming material, quarantine it, and initiate the nonconformance process — never "make it work." Materials and Quality Machine aerospace alloys including Inconel 718 and other nickel-based superalloys, titanium, 17-4 PH stainless, 4340 and other alloy steels, and aluminum. Understand how these materials behave — work hardening, heat management, tool wear, chip control — and adjust accordingly. Quality, Documentation & Compliance Maintain part and material traceability, lot control, and complete routing documentation legibly and accurately.
• Maintenance & Housekeeping Perform daily and scheduled preventive maintenance: way lube, coolant concentration, chip evacuation, filter service, and machine cleaning. Report machine faults, alarms, and spindle or axis irregularities promptly. Maintain a clean, organized, work area Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. 3+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience running both mills and lathes in a production or job-shop environment. Demonstrated ability to perform independent setups — not operator-only experience. Proficiency reading and editing G-code; comfortable working directly at the machine control. Strong blueprint reading skills Proficient with precision measuring instruments and able to inspect your own work. Ability to hold tight tolerances consistently and document results. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience on Haas controls . 5+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience running both mills and lathes in a production or job-shop environment. Experience machining nickel-based superalloys and titanium. Skills & Attributes Meticulous attention to detail and a genuine ownership mentality toward part quality. Sound judgment about when to keep running and when to stop and ask. Self-directed; able to work from a traveler with minimal supervision. Clear communicator with engineering, quality, and production planning. Dependable attendance — the schedule depends on people showing up. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Standing and walking for the majority of an 8-10 hour shift. Regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs; assistance or lift equipment available for heavier material and fixtures. Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motion. Close vision and depth perception adequate for precision inspection work.
