Production Manager About United FS West Coast United FS West Coast is a manufacturer of high-performance plastic films serving customers throughout the United States. We are committed to producing consistent, high-quality products while providing reliable service to our customers. We are looking for an experienced and dependable Blown Film Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team in Lynwood, CA. Position Summary The Blown Film Machine Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating blown film extrusion equipment to manufacture high-quality film according to customer specifications and production requirements. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience operating blown film extrusion equipment, understands the extrusion process, and can identify and correct production and quality issues quickly.
Schedule:
12-hour shifts with overtime as required based on production needs. Approximately 4 hours of overtime may be available per shift. Key Responsibilities Operate and monitor blown film extrusion machinery throughout the production process. Set up machines according to production orders and product specifications. Monitor film thickness, width, appearance, tension, and overall quality. Adjust machine settings to maintain consistent product quality and production efficiency. Perform quality checks throughout the production run. Identify and troubleshoot issues such as gauge variation, bubbles, wrinkles, thickness inconsistencies, and other film defects. Perform machine start-ups, shutdowns, roll changes, and product changeovers. Minimize material waste while maintaining product quality. Maintain accurate production records, including production quantities, scrap, downtime, and quality information. Inspect finished rolls for defects and ensure products meet specifications. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Follow all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures. Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other production team members. Perform basic machine troubleshooting and communicate maintenance needs when necessary. Follow production schedules and meet established production and quality targets. Qualifications Required Previous experience operating blown film extrusion equipment. Strong understanding of blown film manufacturing processes. Ability to read and follow production specifications. Ability to identify and troubleshoot common film quality issues. Strong attention to detail. Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic. Preferred Experience with polyethylene blown film. Experience producing stretch film, poly bags, or similar flexible plastic films. Experience with multi-layer blown film equipment. Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and move materials and finished rolls as required. Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks. Ability to work around manufacturing equipment, heat, noise, and moving machinery. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility and requires strict adherence to company safety procedures. The operator must be comfortable working around extrusion equipment and in a fast-paced production environment.
