POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Production Floor Supervisor and Embroidery Leads, the Embroidery Operator is responsible for applying digitized graphics onto apparel and other products. This position operates multi-head and single-head embroidery machines, accounts for and stages products, loads machines with the specified graphics, stitches graphics onto products, and makes quality adjustments as necessary. The ideal candidate must have strong attention to detail, use good judgment, and be committed to meeting quality and production expectations. The Embroidery Operator is responsible for meeting department and individual production goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Learn and become proficient in the use of the department's production management system. Follow all department Standard Operating Procedures. Learn or demonstrate experience with embroidery techniques and applications, including: Product placement and hooping Backing and stabilizer selection Thread weight selection and tension Direct embroidery 3D foam Applique Patch production Trimming and quality control Become familiar with the products being produced and their construction to better understand embellishment opportunities and limitations. Learn and follow all applicable compliance requirements. Meet and maintain standard production expectations based on established production schedules. Follow the daily production schedule to ensure customer orders are completed on time. Review work orders and attachments to verify product style, color, sizing, quantity, design, graphic size, thread sequence, thread colors, and graphic placement. Set up embroidery machines with the appropriate graphic and correct thread color sequence. Properly hoop garments and products efficiently and accurately. Adjust machine speed and thread tension as needed. Complete a pre-production sample for each graphic placement and obtain approval from an Embroidery Lead prior to beginning production. Closely monitor production for quality and make corrections as necessary. Trim backing and loose thread. Prepare upcoming orders to maintain an efficient workflow. Notify the Embroidery Lead of product shortages. Report machine malfunctions or maintenance needs to the Embroidery Lead. Communicate with team members when additional support is needed. Assist with identifying solutions to improve efficiency and troubleshoot production issues in a timely manner. Update production orders in the department's production management system upon completion. Maintain embroidery equipment in clean and proper operating condition. Assist with daily preventative maintenance. Assist in training new Embroidery department employees. Maintain organization and cleanliness of the work area and equipment. Dispose of used needles in designated sharps disposal containers. Carefully follow all safety requirements. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
