Job Description

Tow Truck Driver / Towing & Recovery Operator Reynolds Towing is hiring full-time and part-time Tow Truck Drivers / Towing & Recovery Operators to help support our growing service area in and around Bear, Delaware. We are a family-owned and operated towing company that has proudly served the area since 1973, and we are looking for dependable local team members who take pride in safe driving, professional customer service, and quality work. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the road, helping people during stressful situations, and working with towing and recovery equipment. Our fleet includes multiple rollbacks and wreckers used for towing, roadside assistance, accident recovery, and vehicle transport. Applicants must be local to the Bear, DE area or able to reliably report to our location at 3454 Wrangle Hill Road, Bear, DE 19701. What You'll Do As a Tow Truck Driver / Towing & Recovery Operator, you will respond to calls involving disabled vehicles, breakdowns, accidents, recoveries, and roadside service needs. You will represent Reynolds Towing in the field, so professionalism, safety, and clear communication are essential.
Key responsibilities include:
Responding to dispatch calls for towing, recovery, and roadside assistance. Operating company rollbacks and wreckers safely and responsibly. Loading, securing, transporting, and unloading vehicles using proper procedures. Assisting customers at breakdown scenes, accident scenes, and recovery locations. Performing basic roadside services when appropriate, such as jump-starts, tire changes, lockouts, or minor assistance. Using winches, straps, chains, wheel-lift equipment, and related towing equipment safely. Inspecting vehicles and determining the safest method for towing or recovery. Communicating clearly with dispatch, customers, repair shops, law enforcement, and other parties when needed.

Completing required paperwork, call records, and vehicle condition documentation accurately. Keeping assigned trucks, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and ready for service. Following all company safety procedures, traffic laws, and applicable DOT requirements What We're Looking For The right candidate is dependable, safety-minded, and comfortable working independently in real-world roadside conditions. Towing work can involve early mornings, late nights, changing weather, traffic, and customers who may be dealing with a stressful situation, so patience and professionalism are important.
Required qualifications include:
Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have a current and up-to-date DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate / DOT medical card. Must be local to the Bear, Delaware area or able to reliably commute to our shop. Must be able to safely operate company vehicles and towing equipment. Must be dependable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team. Must have strong communication and customer service skills. Must be able to follow instructions, safety procedures, and dispatch directions. Must be able to work in outdoor conditions and handle the physical demands of towing and recovery work.
Preferred qualifications include:
Previous towing, rollback, wrecker, recovery, roadside assistance, or commercial driving experience. Basic mechanical knowledge or automotive repair experience. Experience working with winches, straps, chains, wheel-lift equipment, or recovery tools. Familiarity with the Bear, Newark, New Castle, Wilmington, and surrounding Delaware roadways.
