Operator II
  • Pet Food Plant
  • Harvard, IL The Operator II is responsible for operating, monitoring, and supporting production equipment to ensure the safe and efficient manufacturing of high-quality pet food products.
Depending on operational needs and experience, Operator II opportunities may be available within Bakery, Hot Extrusion, or Packaging . PetDine is a pet food manufacturer located in Harvard, Illinois , specializing in the production of premium pet treats and nutritional products. Our manufacturing environment is fast-paced, quality-driven, and focused on producing safe, consistent products while maintaining high standards for food safety, quality, sanitation, and employee safety This position plays an important role in keeping production running efficiently by monitoring equipment and production processes, accurately completing required documentation, identifying and communicating operational issues, and ensuring finished products meet PetDine's quality and food safety standards.
Departments may include:
Bakery
  • Supports the operation of equipment used in the production and processing of baked pet food products and treats. Hot Extrusion
  • Operates and monitors extrusion equipment and production processes, including ingredient flow, equipment settings, and product quality. Packaging
  • Operates and monitors packaging equipment to ensure finished products are packaged accurately, efficiently, and according to quality standards.

5:00 PM
  • 5:00 AM / 5:00AM
  • 5:00PM / 1PM-9:30
PM Shift Differential:
Additional shift differential applies to overnight hours. Candidates should be comfortable working 12-hour overnight shifts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and following all required safety, GMP, food safety, quality, and sanitation procedures. Job Responsibilities Verify all ingredients/packaging needed for production are available. Operate, monitor, and record all extruder functions accurately. Verify product quality and report any issues to the Production Supervisor. Work closely with Mixers to ensure liquid inclusions and recipe components are correct. Log all ingredient lot numbers on recipe sheets or in the database. Date and initial recipe sheets for documentation accuracy. Blend recipes according to work order instructions. Follow all pre
  • and post-cleaning procedures to maintain SQF and GMP sanitation standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor. Must be dependable, flexible and report to work as scheduled. Must be able to work overtime when necessary. Necessary Skills Ability to lift 50-75 pounds regularly. Basic mathematical skills for measurements and documentation. Forklift operation (certification required upon hire). Computer proficiency for data entry and system use. Knowledge of food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues. Job Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be at least 18 years old. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. General understanding of machine operations. Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment. Consistent demonstration of safe working habits. Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Reliable, proactive, and takes pride in quality work.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and handle materials up to 60 pounds. Must be able to bend, stoop and squat as needed for housekeeping responsibilities and other miscellaneous duties. Tolerance for working in environments with exposure to heat, noise, and dust. Excited about this role but don't meet every requirement listed?
