Job Description
at Saint-Gobain in Junction City, Illinois, United States Job Description Manufacturing Operator This 1 st Shift position in the Junction City, IL facility is responsible for supporting efficient production, storage, inventory management, and distribution of materials. This role ensures the safe and accurate movement of raw materials, finished goods, liquid colorants, and pigments throughout the site to maintain production schedules, support customer requirements, and uphold operational excellence. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager. Hours are 8:00am
- 4:30pm The following duties will be performed by the successful candidate: + Receiving incoming materials, verifying and storing inventory, stocking and distributing liquid and pigment products to production areas, and preparing customer orders for shipment.
+ Producing mortar color samples for quality, product development, and customer support purposes, ensuring consistency with established specifications and standards.
+ Maintaining accurate inventory records through both physical and digital transactions, performing inventory counts.
+ Operating material-handling equipment such as forklifts.
+ Unloading box trucks containing totes and raw materials, transferring inventory throughout the facility, and loading flatbed trailers for direct customer deliveries in accordance with DOT regulations.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by adhering to 5S and continuous improvement standards.
+ Perform cleaning, painting, organizing workspaces, equipment maintenance support, and other activities necessary to preserve the appearance, functionality, and safety of the facility.
+ Work closely with production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure materials are available when needed, products meet quality expectations, and customer shipments are fulfilled accurately and on time.
+ Perform other duties and cross-training assignments as directed by the Department Supervisor. Environment and Physical Requirements The job requires:
+ Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs. consistently.
+ Ability to maintain a high level of frequency and intensity in physical activities, including pulling, pushing, carrying, standing, bending, reaching, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
+ Good eye and hand coordination.
+ Use of personal protective equipment and ability to tolerate ambient outdoor temperatures. amounts of heat, cold, dust, and noise. The successful candidate should possess the following skills
- + Minimum 1 year of work experience. + Must have strong reading, math, and technical skills, and the ability to qualify on various processes and equipment in a dynamic chemical manufacturing environment. + Must be a certified forklift driver or have the ability to become certified
- + Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and have basic reading, writing, and math skills.
+ Must possess good verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write legibly.
+ Must have good eye and hand coordination to complete job tasks.
