Job Description

Make Your Mark as a Precision CTL Machine Operator A Day in the Life You clock in and step onto a clean, quality-driven production floor. Your Cut-to-Length (CTL) line is your command center: you inspect incoming coil or sheet, dial in measurements, verify accuracy with freshly checked tools, and run parts to exact specs. When the schedule shifts, you pivot—setting up the machine (including potential CNC setups) to keep orders moving and customers happy. Why Ryerson Since 1842, Ryerson has led the metals industry with a reputation for reliability, craft, and best-in-class service. Join a team that values your expertise, invests in your growth, and gives you room to advance in a dynamic, quality-focused environment. What You'll Do Operate the Cut-to-Length line to process parts accurately and efficiently. Perform machine setups, including potential CNC setup when required. Inspect incoming feedstock to confirm it meets quality specifications. Calibrate and verify measuring tools daily (e.g., tape measures) before use on shift. Conduct in-process and final part inspections to meet spec. Handle basic machine upkeep and assist maintenance during breakdowns. Pull and stage feedstock materials to support scheduled production orders. Share your knowledge by training teammates on machines, work cells, or related processes. Take on additional responsibilities as assigned; duties may evolve with or without notice. What You Bring 3-5 years of experience operating a Cut-to-Length machine (preferred). Comfort navigating a computer to locate and enter information and print as needed. Readiness to complete a skills-based assessment covering reading, math, inspection and measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving. Excitement to enroll in a registered apprenticeship program during onboarding.
Schedule Shift Hours:
2:30pm to 11pm, Monday through Friday Grow with Us We'll support your development with training, mentorship, and a formal apprenticeship—so you can sharpen your craft and advance your career in metals processing.
