Job Description

Summit Truck Bodies, a division of Transwest, is looking for a Laser operator for our manufacturing facility in Wathena Kansas. We are expanding and looking to add a laser operator to our team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Sets up, adjusts and operates Fiber Laser.

Required to read and interpret detailed instructions to produce the desired form.

Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications, using square, measuring tape, and angle finder.

Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.

Maintains a clean and safe work area, maintains and wears all required personal protective safety equipment.

Participates in all continuous improvement programs by offering suggestions and exhibiting initiative in areas within direct control.

Other duties as assigned by the manager.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping and stretching.

Requires lifting up to 75 pounds frequently.

Requires working in areas which are not ventilated or air-conditioned.

Requires eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate machinery such as a forklift.

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity.

Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.

Requires working in a fast paced environment.

Requires a normal range of hearing and vision.

Must understand vague and implicit instructions, and react favorably in all work situations.

Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.

Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid Driver's License with an MVR in good standing.

Must have basic knowledge and understanding of fabrication machines and tools.

Ability to efficiently use various hand and power tools.

Ability to read gauges and other measurement tools.

Ability to do simple math calculations.

Keen attention to detail is required.

Ability to work with multiple priorities and constant interruptions.

Basic communication skills, both written and oral.

Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.

Ability to successfully pass a General Abilities Assessment and Post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
