About the Role As a Printing Press Assistant, you will play a vital role in our production team by ensuring the efficient operation of high-speed printing equipment. You will collaborate with lead operators to maintain high standards of quality and consistency for our diverse range of packaging products. Responsibilities Prepare press machinery for production runs by installing plates, blankets, and adjusting critical settings like side guides and grippers. Maintain optimal print quality by monitoring fountain solution conductivity and managing ink and coating levels throughout the shift. Execute thorough wash-ups of ink units and cylinders between jobs to ensure color accuracy and equipment longevity. Utilize scanning densitometers to verify print specifications and assist in identifying non-conforming materials. Support the pressroom workflow by performing preventative maintenance and assisting with minor equipment repairs. Ensure a safe and organized work environment while facilitating the smooth transition of finished goods to staging areas. Provide operational support to the lead pressman and assist in the training of junior team members. Required Skills High school diploma or GED. Minimum of one year of experience operating multi-color offset, flexographic, or gravure printing presses. Strong color vision and the ability to perform precise mathematical calculations. Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex job orders and production specifications. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Preferred Skills Hands-on experience with Mitsubishi press equipment. Technical knowledge of UV inks, in-line coatings, and paperboard substrates. Familiarity with 4-color process printing and advanced densitometry tools. Proven track record of performing blanket changes and cylinder packing.
