A machine operator sets up, runs, and monitors industrial machinery in manufacturing or production plants. Their main duties include loading raw materials, checking products for quality, doing basic machine maintenance, and following strict safety rules to meet daily production goals.
Core Responsibilities Setup and Operation:
Prepare, calibrate, and start machines based on work orders and blueprints.
Material Handling:
Load raw materials or components into equipment and unload finished items.
Quality Control:
Inspect finished parts using tools like gauges or calipers to catch defects.
Monitoring and Adjusting:
Watch equipment during runs and make minor fixes or calibrations to keep output accurate.
Maintenance and Safety:
Clean work areas, perform routine equipment upkeep, and wear required safety gear.
Record Keeping:
Log production output, material use, and machine performance reports.
Key Skills and Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience:
1 to 3 years working with production or manufacturing equipment.
