Back Sr. Laser Operator Light Industrial & Manufacturing Binghamton , New York Contract to Hire Oct 1, 2026 Peoplelink Staffing Solutions is seeking a 2nd shift Sr. Laser Operator in partnership with a prominent client in Binghamton, NY within the Machining industry. In this role, you will set up, operate and maintain CNC Laser Machines.

Laser Operator Responsibilities:

Perform advanced setup and operation of CNC laser cutting equipment. Review production documentation to select the correct material, including type, dimensions, thickness, and grade. Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs and machine code to improve cutting efficiency and production output. Load and position raw materials using manual handling methods and/or electric hoisting equipment. Configure machine settings and cutting parameters based on material type, thickness, and grade. Verify that components are produced accurately according to work orders, production travelers, drawings, and other applicable documentation. Move raw materials and completed material between production areas and inventory as required. Identify and mark parts and material remnants with appropriate heat numbers to maintain material traceability. Operate laser equipment carefully and responsibly to minimize equipment damage and production issues. Conduct diagnostic checks and troubleshoot complex machine problems; work with maintenance personnel or escalate issues to the supervisor when necessary. Complete routine machine maintenance and housekeeping activities. Inspect and measure finished work using measuring tools, gauges, templates, and other inspection equipment. Identify and correct cutting-quality problems by adjusting laser settings, machine parameters, and other operating conditions. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area free of hazards and unnecessary obstructions. Accurately complete daily timekeeping and production records. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, shop orders, and related technical documentation to determine machine setup, production processes, and operating sequence. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Laser Operator Qualifications and Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED 5+ years of experience in CNC laser operating experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and blueprints. Proficiency with measuring tools and inspection equipment. Basic computer skills required. CNC programming experience and/or sheet metal manufacturing experience is a plus. General knowledge of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and industrial equipment preferred.
