Duties Safely operate wood milling machinery Use tools like calipers, tape measures, and other precision measurement devices to ensure accurate cuts and bundling. Handle wood materials safely using forklifts and material handling equipment, ensuring proper stacking, storage, and transport within the mill. Assist with sawmill production processes by performing sawing, machining, and milling tasks with attention to detail and quality standards. Maintain a clean and organized work area by regularly inspecting machinery for safety issues, performing routine maintenance, and adhering to safety protocols in all operations. Use hand tools and power tools effectively for wood milling tasks while following safety guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries. Requirements Prior experience in sawmill production or woodworking environments is highly preferred; familiarity with wood materials and millwork processes is a plus. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate woodworking machines such as saws, CNC equipment, calipers, tape measures, and hand tools proficiently. Basic math skills for measuring, calculating dimensions, and interpreting technical drawings accurately. Knowledge of safety standards in manufacturing environments including proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and adherence to safety protocols. Ability to operate material handling equipment like forklifts safely; certification is advantageous but not mandatory. Strong attention to detail with a focus on precision measurement in machining and cutting tasks. Good physical stamina for standing, lifting heavy wood materials, and performing repetitive tasks throughout shifts.
