Job Description

Texas Iron & Steel is seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined CNC Machine Operator to join our growing steel processing operation in Longview, Texas. This position will operate and support various CNC steel-processing equipment and is ideal for someone who enjoys working with machinery, reading drawings, solving problems, and producing quality parts. Depending on experience and production needs, equipment may include: CNC Press Brake 3D Structural Plasma Cutting System 3D Tube Laser Cutting System Other CNC and automated steel-processing equipment as assigned Key Responsibilities Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machinery used in steel processing and fabrication. Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, cut sheets, and work orders . Verify material type, size, thickness, length, and quantity before processing. Load and unload steel safely using appropriate material-handling equipment. Select, load, or verify CNC programs and machine parameters for assigned jobs. Perform machine setups and make adjustments as required to maintain part quality. Measure and inspect finished parts using tape measures, calipers, squares, and other measuring equipment. Verify dimensions and finished parts against customer drawings and job specifications. Monitor cut quality, forming accuracy, machine performance, and tooling condition throughout production. Identify potential programming, setup, material, or quality issues before producing additional parts. Perform routine machine inspections, cleaning, and basic preventative maintenance. Accurately record production quantities, material usage, scrap, downtime, and other required production information. Maintain an organized and safe work area. Follow all company safety, quality, and operating procedures. Work with supervisors, programmers, quality personnel, and other machine operators to keep jobs moving efficiently through production.
Qualifications Preferred:
Previous experience operating CNC machinery in a steel service center, fabrication shop, manufacturing facility, or metal-processing environment . Experience with CNC press brakes, structural plasma systems, tube lasers, plasma tables, saws, or similar equipment. Ability to read and understand blueprints and fabrication drawings. Experience working with structural steel, plate, pipe, square/rectangular tubing, or other steel products. Familiarity with CNC programming, nesting, CAD/CAM software, or machine control systems is a plus. Experience using precision measuring tools and performing first-piece inspections. We will also consider candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and related manufacturing experience who are willing and able to learn CNC equipment. Skills & Abilities The successful candidate should: Be mechanically inclined and comfortable working around industrial machinery. Have strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work. Be able to perform basic shop math, including fractions and decimals. Understand measurements, tolerances, angles, and dimensions. Be comfortable using computers and touchscreen CNC controls. Be able to troubleshoot basic machine, setup, and production issues. Be dependable and able to work with limited supervision once properly trained. Be willing to learn and operate multiple pieces of CNC processing equipment . Work effectively as part of a production team. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and work on a shop floor for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, climb, and perform other physical activities associated with operating industrial machinery. Ability to safely lift and handle tools and materials as required. Ability to work in a steel-processing and manufacturing environment.
Pay:
From $19.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
