Job Description

Excavation Laborer / Equipment OperatorJob Summary We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Excavation Laborer / Equipment Operator to join our growing team. This position involves performing general excavation labor, operating heavy equipment, assisting with underground utility installation, site preparation, grading, and other excavation-related tasks. The ideal candidate has experience working in the excavation or construction industry or a willingness to learn, can work safely in a fast-paced environment, and is willing to perform both equipment operation and physical labor as needed. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment including excavators, skid steers, loaders, and compact equipment. Assist with excavation, trenching, grading, and site preparation activities. Install underground utilities including water, sewer, storm drain, and conduit systems. Perform manual labor such as shoveling, hand grading, pipe laying, and site cleanup. Follow grade stakes, project plans, and directions from supervisors. Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment. Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance issues. Assist with traffic control and job-site safety measures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Work effectively as part of a crew to complete projects on schedule. Qualifications Previous excavation, utility, construction, or heavy equipment experience preferred but not required. Ability to safely operate excavators, skid steers, loaders, or similar equipment. Knowledge of trench safety and excavation practices is a plus. Valid driver's license required. Ability to read and follow basic construction plans and grade information. Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks. Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings.
