Position Description Work - Learn - Grow with the leading steel fabricator in the US! Perform routine set ups and operations involved in the shearing and punching of various steel shapes on the stiffener shear, ironworker and punch press. Shapes include flat bars, round bars, square bars and angles. Duties involve the use of rules, squares, hoists, hooks, slings and other similar devices. As instructed by the supervisor, operate the angle shear, stiffener shear or ironworker. Get material from storage area using floor-operated crane. Measure, mark if required, and shear flat bars, plates and angles, utilizing appropriate equipment. Cut to correct size and shape as called for on the cutting list and/or as shown by templates. Mark items with proper identification to show job number, piece mark and other necessary data, send material either to next work area or to storage area. Using either the punch press or the ironworker, punch holes in material, either from template or pre-layed out material. Select punches and dies to get required hole. Change dies and punches as required. Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective material. Report questionable cases to the supervisor. Keep required records of job time, production counts and other data. Perform minor maintenance on machines, such as oiling. Maintain the tools, equipment and area in a clean, orderly and proper manner. Follow Company quality and quantity work requirements and safety rules and regulations. Detect unsafe conditions and behaviors and immediately report to supervisor. Position Requirements Successful candidates will possess: 1. Desire to learn and grow with an industry leader. 2. Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment. 3. Ability to solve basic math problems and read tape measure. 4. Ability stand and walk for 8+ hours with intervals of stooping, squatting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. 5. Manual dexterity to work with various hand tools. 6, Ability to left 50 pounds. 7. Ability to work in a team environment and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision. 8. Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols.
