This role is ideal for a professional with a background in setting up and running cylindrical grinding machinery who excels at maintaining exact tolerances within a high-precision production setting. Compensation and Details The compensation for this position ranges from $25 to $30 per hour, with potential for negotiation based on individual qualifications. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity located in Addison, IL, operating on a first-shift schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Core Responsibilities Configure and manage the operation of OD and cylindrical grinding equipment. Ensure outside diameters are ground to exact specifications to help the team meet production goals. Analyze and utilize technical blueprints, engineering drawings, and operational instructions. Choose and prepare grinding wheels according to task requirements. Configure machine feed rates, speeds, and specific grinding settings. Utilize precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and various gauges to verify accuracy. Examine completed components to confirm they align with necessary quality and dimensional standards. Modify machine settings as necessary to ensure consistent part quality throughout the run. Conduct both in-process and final quality checks to support high manufacturing standards. Keep the workstation tidy and well-organized to improve overall shop efficiency. Adhere to all established safety protocols and quality guidelines to maintain a secure environment for all staff. Required Skills and Experience A minimum of three years of practical experience in cylindrical or OD grinding is preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of machining techniques and grinding workflows. Proficiency in interpreting complex blueprints and GD&T documentation. Proven track record of working with precise measurements and strict tolerances. Expertise in using precision inspection tools like micrometers and calipers. High level of focus on detail to ensure the production of superior quality parts. Capability to identify and resolve common grinding or machine-related problems. Ability to manage tasks autonomously with limited oversight.
