Job Description

Green Lake Tube, LLC (GLT) manufactures electric resistance welded mechanical and structural tubing from our manufacturing facility in Gary, Indiana. GLT is in search of several experienced Tube Mill Operators in the Steel Tubing Manufacturing Industry.
Qualifications:
The successful candidates must be drug-free, self-motivated, good communication skills, work well in a team-based environment, reliable and have a high level of mechanical aptitude. 2 years of prior tube mill operations experience is a must. Responsibilities Set-up, operate and adjust parameters of welded tube mill equipment and tooling to maximize efficiency and quality requirements. Makes adjustments to driven stand rolls, side pass rolls, and weld rolls in accordance with Mill Tooling Setup Charts to properly set mill up for given sizes. Ability to install the proper bearing spacers, work coil and impeder rod required during changeovers. Makes adjustments to sizing section driven stand rolls and side pass rolls to properly size tubing. Performs dimensional and visual inspection of product throughout the shift to ensure quality of product. Ability to operate end welding machine and hand-held torch. Verify correct raw materials are utilized. Ability to use and read precision measuring equipment (i.e., micrometers, Vernier calipers, tape measure) Visually inspect tubing for quality defects and reject non-confirming product. Complete daily inspection reports. Execute and record all production/quality checks. Ensure safe operating conditions within area of responsibility. Perform routine and preventative maintenance as needed on equipment. Ensure cleanliness and regular maintenance of the equipment. Reports identified non-conformities to the production supervisor. Generate production tags. Provide training and support to other mill crew personnel. Must be able to work overtime as needed to support customer requirements. Must be available to work unscheduled overtime. Ability to work well with coworkers as a team. Perform other duties and assignments as assigned by management. Skills and Abilities Ability to work in a safe manner Ability to recognize quality of material Demonstrates ability to perform LOTO Demonstrates ability to follow specific instructions and directions Demonstrate ability to use and operate hand tools Demonstrate ability to stack material properly Ability to pay attention to surroundings Ability to identify safety issues in their work area, and notice equipment malfunctions Ability to read a tape measure and read blue prints or plans Ability to troubleshoot the machine or equipment in use. Ability to understand efficiencies and productivity measures Ability to lift up to 40LBS. Ability to stand for long periods of time operating and tending to machines Ability to bend, twist and stretch Ability to work under immediate supervision Ability to pass a drug test Ability to work hours mandated by management Conduct Punctual and reliable Safety conscious Team player and goal oriented Open to change and positive attitude Committed to plant and company goals 2nd shift hours: 2pm-10pm $2.00 shift premium
