Job Description

Prepress Technician Pacific Nexus Vista, CA Job Details Full-time $28 - $38 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications Phone communication Writing skills In-person customer service Direct client contact Color management Attention to detail Customer engagement Prepress software Adobe Acrobat Layout design Client interaction via phone calls Full Job Description About us Pacific Nexus is a Vista, California production company that combines commercial printing, photography, and digital commerce under one roof. We work with national brands that expect the file, the proof, and the finished piece to match.
Our standard is craft:
precision, restraint, and work that holds up. The role You are the last set of eyes before a job goes to press, and often the first voice the customer hears about their file. You will preflight and correct incoming art, build impositions, manage color and proofing, release jobs to digital and offset production, and talk directly with customers and designers when a file needs work. This is a hands-on prepress seat with real customer contact, not a back-room role. What you will do Preflight incoming files and identify issues with bleeds, fonts, resolution, color space, trapping, and die lines. Correct or rebuild files as needed in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat. Build impositions and plan sheet layouts for digital and offset production. Produce and release proofs, manage color expectations, and maintain output profiles. Call and email customers and designers directly to resolve file problems, explain what is required, and confirm approvals. Coordinate with production, bindery, and the quoting desk so jobs release clean and on schedule. Keep job records and specifications accurate in our production system. What you bring Three or more years of prepress experience in a commercial print environment. Strong command of the Adobe Creative Suite and PDF workflows. Working knowledge of color management, ICC profiles, and proofing. Understanding of offset and digital print processes, finishing, and bindery constraints. Comfort speaking with customers directly, in writing and on the phone, with a calm and professional tone. Attention to detail under deadline pressure, and the judgment to raise a problem early rather than let it reach press. Nice to have HP Indigo experience or digital press operation. Experience with a print MIS or workflow system such as PrintIQ, Esko, or Prinergy. Wide format, packaging, or variable data experience. Why this seat matters Prepress is where most print problems are either caught or created. The person in this role protects every job that leaves the building and shapes how customers experience working with us. Pacific Nexus is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to any characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.
Pay:
$28.00 - $38.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week Application Question(s): Tell me a story from your career that would help me understand who you are when things get hard. What's a mistake you made that took you longer than it should have to admit? What finally made you face it? Describe your career in printing and the milestones that have brought you to this point, highlighting your achievements and skills and the meaningful work you have done. What are your career goals?
