Tier Power Systems designs and manufactures custom low-voltage switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, industrial control panels, and electrical enclosures that support mission-critical power infrastructure. We combine technical expertise and industry experience to manufacture low voltage to medium voltage switchgear systems integrated with advanced control solutions.
Job Summary:
The Wire Kit Technician is responsible for preparing, organizing, and assembling wire kits used in the production of industrial control panels, switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers (MCCs), and other power distribution equipment. This position utilizes wire cut sheets, engineering documentation, and production instructions to accurately measure, cut, label, ferrule, and package wires for installation by Controls and Assembly personnel. The Wire Kit Technician plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing efficiency by ensuring wire kits are complete, accurate, properly identified, and available to production according to schedule. Attention to detail, organization, and quality are essential to success in this role.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
Ability to read and follow wire cut sheets, work instructions, and job-specific documentation provided by the Controls Manager and Controls Leads. Accurately measure and cut wires to specified lengths and prepare wire kits for installation in industrial control panels and switchgear assemblies. Prepare wire kits with consistent lengths, proper labeling, and ferrules when required. Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and accuracy when selecting the correct wire gauge, wire color, length, and identification markings. Operate pneumatic wire processing and cutting equipment safely and effectively. Ability to manually cut wires and properly crimp ferrules using hand tools when required. Apply wire markers and heat-shrink labels accurately and consistently according to job specifications. Assemble and organize wire kits in a manner that allows Controls personnel to efficiently identify and install wires during panel and switchgear assembly. Support the preparation of wire kits for both current production jobs and future projects to maintain production readiness. Verify completed wire kits against cut sheets and job documentation to identify discrepancies before kits are released to production. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area and properly maintain tools and equipment. Communicate material shortages, discrepancies, equipment issues, or questions to the Controls Manager or Controls Leads. Basic computer skills, including the ability to access and review electronic work instructions, production information, and job documentation. Ability to work independently while also effectively communicating and collaborating with the Controls and Production teams. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and consistently meet production schedules and quality standards. Additional duties may be assigned as business needs require.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check in accordance with applicable law. Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Standing for extended periods, up to 10-12-hour shifts. Repetitive lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and manual dexterity for detailed assembly work. Exposure to dust, noise, and temperature variations typical of a production facility. Strict adherence to safety procedures when working with electrical components and fabrication tools.
