Job Title:
Assembler Job Description The Assembler plays a key role in building premium windows and doors from start to finish, ensuring every product meets strict quality standards. In this role, you follow detailed production lists and work instructions, use a variety of hand and power tools, and collaborate with team members to maintain efficient, high-quality production throughout the assembly process. Responsibilities Perform window and door assembly operations from start to finish, following established processes and standards. Read and follow production lists, standard work, control plans, and written work instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately. Identify and select proper materials required for each phase of the assembly process. Inspect each phase of assembly to ensure products meet quality specifications and report any issues promptly. Advise team members and supervisors of material shortages or quality concerns to prevent production delays. Use hand and power tools such as drills, screw guns, nail and staple guns, chop saws, routers, sanders, and other equipment safely and effectively. Measure components accurately using a tape measure to ensure proper fit and alignment. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and efficiency. Follow all safety guidelines, including appropriate use of tools, equipment, and personal protective gear. Contribute to a team-oriented production environment by communicating clearly and supporting co-workers as needed. Essential Skills Experience with assembly, production, or general labor in a manufacturing or construction environment. Proficiency using common hand tools and power tools, including drills, screw guns, nail and staple guns, chop saws, routers, and sanders. Ability to read and interpret basic production lists and written work instructions. Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical assembly tasks. Ability to read a tape measure accurately and apply basic math skills in measurements and counts. Capability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift. Basic reading and math skills sufficient to follow instructions and complete production documentation. High school diploma, GED, or HSED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in construction, mechanical assembly, or related hands-on work. Familiarity with blueprints or simple diagrams used in production settings. Comfort working with various hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products. Strong work ethic and reliability, with the ability to follow established processes and safety procedures. Willingness to learn and develop new skills as production methods and products evolve. Work Environment This is a production floor role in a busy manufacturing facility that produces premium windows directly for dealers and homeowners. The standard schedule runs Monday through Thursday on 10-hour shifts, with a 1st shift from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a 2nd shift from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Occasional work may be scheduled on Fridays for either a half day or full day, with notice provided early in the week. Employees receive two twelve-minute breaks and one thirty-minute lunch break during the shift. The facility is not air conditioned and can become hot, so the dress code is flexible: steel-toed shoes are required, and employees may wear shorts and t-shirts as long as clothing is appropriate and does not display offensive content. Individuals with long hair must wear it secured in a ponytail or bun for safety. The environment is hands-on and tool-intensive, involving frequent use of drills, screw guns, nail and staple guns, chop saws, routers, sanders, and other equipment, and requires comfort with physical work and adherence to safety practices in a large workforce. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dubuque, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.20 - $22.20/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
