Role Description The Assembler is responsible for the hands-on mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly of ceiling lift systems, motors, tracks, and related components, following established work instructions and under the direction of the Lead Assembler and Production Manager, to ensure every unit meets Mackworth USA's build specifications and quality standards before it ships to a customer site. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential Read and follow engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and assembly work instructions to build ceiling lift motors, tracks, gantries, and control units to specification. Perform mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly using hand tools, power tools, torque equipment, and basic test instruments (multimeters, load gauges). Assemble sub-components and finished units in the sequence and pace set by the Lead Assembler/Production Manager to meet daily production schedules. Perform in-process checks of your own assembly work against build specifications and quality standards; set aside and flag any unit or component that does not conform. Complete build travelers, inspection checklists, and production records as required to support traceability and quality documentation for regulated medical-device components. Report assembly defects, fitment issues, tooling problems, or component shortages to the Lead Assembler or Production Manager. Retrieve, stage, and return parts and sub-assemblies needed for assigned builds; keep bins and work orders accurately labeled. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with OSHA and company safety requirements, including proper use of PPE and safe lifting practices. Follow instruction and training provided by the Lead Assembler or Production Manager on new build procedures, tooling, and torque specifications. Desirable Assist in packaging, crating, and preparing finished ceiling lift systems and components for shipment. Perform other related assembly and production duties as assigned by the Lead Assembler or Production Manager. Experience Required [High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.] Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or a related hands-on trade. Ability to read and follow technical drawings, schematics, and written build instructions. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and torque-controlled fastening equipment. Basic mechanical aptitude, with working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, basic electrical/electro-mechanical assembly tasks (wiring, motors, controls). Personal Characteristics Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and product safety, given the end use of the equipment in patient care settings. Ability to work from and complete basic production/quality paperwork. Ability to follow direction and work effectively as part of a team. Reliable and safety-conscious, taking pride in consistent, high-quality work. Working Environment Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing/warehouse environment at Mackworth USA's O'Fallon, MO facility. Regularly stand, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods on the assembly floor. Regularly lift and/or move components and finished assemblies up to [35-50] lbs, and occasionally more with mechanical assistance or a team lift. Use hands and fingers repetitively to operate tools and assemble small components. Exposure to typical shop noise and occasional work near moving equipment.
