Job Title:
Metal Fabrication Assembler Location:
Hilliard, OH Shift:
1st Shift (4:00 AM - 2:30 PM)
Position Type:
Full-Time Position Overview We are seeking a reliable, safety-minded Metal Fabrication Assembler to join our production team in Hilliard, Ohio. In this role, you will play a critical part in our heavy manufacturing process by supporting Press Brake Operators and assisting in the movement, staging, and initial assembly of large steel products. If you are a quick learner who thrives in a fast-paced, physically demanding shop environment, this is a great opportunity to build a long-term trade skill set.
Key Responsibilities Press Brake Support:
Assist primary operators with loading, positioning, holding, and unloading large, heavy steel plates and sheet metal during bending operations.
Assembly & Staging:
Fit, align, and stage steel components for downstream welding or final assembly using basic hand tools, power tools, and clamps.
Quality & Measurement:
Read tape measures down to standard fractional increments (e.g., 1/16") to verify product dimensions against basic blueprints or work orders.
Material Handling:
Safely lift, maneuver, and transport heavy metal components across the shop floor using proper manual lifting techniques and overhead cranes or hoist systems (training provided).
Shop Maintenance:
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace adhering to strict OSHA and company safety standards.
Qualifications & Physical Requirements Hands-On Experience:
Basic proficiency with common hand tools, power tools, and standard tape measures.
Physical Capability:
Ability to regularly lift up to 50+ lbs independently and team-lift heavier steel components throughout a 10-hour shift.
Stamina:
Comfort working on your feet for extended periods in a loud, industrial shop environment.
Traits:
Strong work ethic, reliable attendance, quick learner, and a team-first attitude.
Background:
High school diploma or GED preferred; prior experience in steel manufacturing, metal fabrication, or heavy assembly is a strong plus.
