At Perseus Defense, we build counter-UAS systems for the U.S. Department of War and Homeland Security. Our mission is to enable the mass production of micro-guided missiles that are affordable, scalable, and portable — low-cost autonomous capability that integrates tracking and engagement into a single system for under $10K per shot. Job Overview As a Sub Assembly Technician, you'll build the electrical and electromechanical sub-assemblies that feed into final integration of our missile and launcher systems. This is hands-on bench work — building wire harnesses, soldering connections, and testing sub-assemblies using standard electrical test equipment. Precision and consistency matter here, since every sub-assembly you build has to perform reliably in a system designed to work the first time, every time. Responsibilities Assemble electrical and electromechanical sub-assemblies per engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions Build and terminate wire harnesses and cable assemblies, including wire stripping, crimping, and connector termination Perform soldering of electrical connections to workmanship standards Use standard bench test equipment (multimeters, continuity testers, power supplies) to verify electrical function of completed sub-assemblies Perform in-process quality checks and inspection at defined build stages Identify and flag component, wiring, or assembly defects before parts move downstream Maintain accurate build documentation and unit traceability Support engineering during design changes or new sub-assembly introduction Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation and test bench Qualifications 1+ years of experience in electrical or electromechanical assembly, including soldering and wire harness work Proficiency with basic soldering, wire stripping, crimping, and connector termination Comfortable using standard bench test equipment (multimeters, continuity testers, basic power supplies) Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and work instructions Strong attention to detail and consistency in repetitive precision work Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 or equivalent workmanship standards Experience in aerospace, defense, or precision electronics manufacturing Experience with high-reliability or MIL-spec connectors and wiring Basic troubleshooting ability at the sub-assembly or component level Experience in a startup or low-rate production environment, comfortable with rapid process changes Additional Requirements U.S. Person status required (ITAR) Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
