Position Summary Warren Averett CPAs & Advisors is seeking a new Plant Manager is responsible for leading safe, efficient, high-quality, and on-time manufacturing operations at the client's Pell City facility. This position provides hands-on leadership for day-to-day plant operations, production execution, team development, safety compliance, quality performance, equipment readiness, labor utilization, cost control, and continuous improvement. This is an on-site, production-focused leadership role for someone who enjoys being on the manufacturing floor, working directly with team members, solving practical problems, and helping a manufacturing organization perform at a higher level. The ideal candidate will be a strong, visible, and accountable leader with excellent communication skills, sound manufacturing judgment, strong organizational discipline, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced industrial environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Plant Manager is responsible for leading safe, efficient, high-quality, and on-time plant operations by performing the following duties: Leadership and Plant Management Provide strong, visible leadership to production personnel, team leaders, supervisors, maintenance, and other plant personnel by setting clear expectations and promoting accountability. Foster a positive, professional, collaborative, and safety-focused work environment. Build and maintain a culture of teamwork, urgency, follow-through, continuous improvement, and respect. Lead, coach, train, and develop plant personnel to strengthen performance, communication, skill development, and ownership. Support consistent and fair application of company policies, procedures, safety rules, attendance expectations, and standards of conduct. Communicate clearly with employees and leadership regarding priorities, expectations, performance, production challenges, and improvement opportunities. Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Scheduling, Shipping, Maintenance, Finance, and Leadership to support overall business performance. Production Operations Oversee daily plant operations to ensure production is completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and on time. Plan, organize, and direct production activities to meet customer requirements, shipment commitments, lead-time expectations, and commercial priorities. Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, work centers, scheduling priorities, and plant resources to support customer demand and reduce production delays. Monitor production performance against key metrics, including safety, quality, productivity, throughput, on-time delivery, lead times, labor utilization, scrap, rework, and cost targets. Ensure production output supports sales, invoicing, shipment goals, customer commitments, and company financial objectives. Identify and resolve production constraints, bottlenecks, material issues, labor gaps, equipment problems, and process concerns that affect safety, quality, cost, or delivery. Promote disciplined shop-floor execution, including accurate production reporting, proper material handling, housekeeping, standard work, and consistent use of approved processes. Maintain a strong daily presence on the production floor to understand performance, support employees, remove obstacles, and keep work moving. Safety, Quality, and Compliance Lead plant safety efforts by ensuring company safety policies, procedures, training requirements, and safe work practices are followed consistently. Promote a safety-first culture where hazards are identified early, corrective actions are completed, and employees understand their responsibility for safe work. Support safety audits, inspections, incident reviews, training activities, and corrective action processes. Ensure plant operations comply with applicable environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements. Work with Quality and Engineering to address nonconforming product, customer concerns, recurring defects, inspection issues, root causes, and corrective actions. Support quality systems, product consistency, documentation accuracy, and process controls throughout the manufacturing operation. Scheduling, Materials, and Cross-Functional Coordination Work with Production Scheduling, Procurement, Shipping, Customer Service, and Sales to support production readiness, material availability, order prioritization, and shipment execution. Review backlog, open orders, late orders, production orders, priority orders, material shortages, and upcoming ship dates to maintain clear plant visibility. Help ensure required materials, components, drawings, routings, bills of material, work instructions, and production information are available before orders are prioritized for production. Communicate production delays, capacity constraints, material concerns, and schedule risks in a timely and professional manner. Support practical recovery plans when production is behind schedule or when customer commitments are at risk. Maintenance, Facilities, and Equipment Readiness Ensure plant equipment, tooling, work areas, and facilities are maintained in a safe, reliable, and productive condition. Work with Maintenance to prioritize preventive maintenance, repairs, equipment issues, downtime reduction, and long-term equipment reliability. Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, facility improvements, layout changes, and other investments that improve safety, capacity, efficiency, or quality. Help evaluate equipment needs, tooling needs, process limitations, and facility requirements to support current and future production demands. Continuous Improvement and Cost Control Identify and lead practical improvement efforts that reduce waste, improve quality, increase throughput, reduce lead times, lower cost, and strengthen production consistency. Apply Lean manufacturing, 5S, root-cause analysis, corrective action, standard work, and other continuous improvement practices where applicable. Monitor and help reduce scrap, drop, rework, downtime, labor inefficiency, material waste, and recurring production disruptions. Work with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Scheduling, and Procurement to improve manufacturing methods, production flow, equipment performance, documentation, and process discipline. Support cost-control efforts through better labor planning, improved material usage, stronger inventory discipline, efficient scheduling, and accurate production reporting. ERP / Microsoft Dynamics / Reporting Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Dynamics AX, or a similar ERP system is strongly preferred. The successful candidate should be comfortable using ERP data to review sales orders, production orders, bills of material, routings, work centers, inventory availability, material requirements, labor reporting, production status, backlog, shipments, scrap, and manufacturing reports to support accurate execution and decision-making. The Plant Manager is expected to use Microsoft 365 tools, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, and SharePoint, to organize information, communicate clearly, track action items, review performance, and report plant results.
Qualifications Required qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field. Five to eight or more years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in a plant, operations, production, or industrial manufacturing environment. Demonstrated ability to lead production teams, build accountability, coach employees, and drive consistent execution on the manufacturing floor. Strong practical understanding of production flow, labor planning, capacity constraints, material readiness, equipment performance, safety, quality, cost control, and on-time delivery requirements. Experience monitoring and improving key manufacturing metrics, including safety, quality, productivity, throughput, lead times, on-time delivery, labor utilization, scrap, rework, and cost performance. Strong ability to identify problems, evaluate root causes, make sound decisions, and implement practical corrective actions. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and other Microsoft 365 tools. Ability to learn, use, and support ERP, production reporting, inventory, scheduling, and manufacturing management systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professional judgment, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to work effectively with production personnel, team leaders, supervisors, engineering, quality, planning, procurement, shipping, maintenance, finance, sales, customer service, and senior leadership. Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, positive attitude, confidentiality, and commitment to teamwork, safety, quality, and customer service.
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Dynamics AX, or similar ERP systems. Experience in fabricated metal products, conveyor components, idlers, rollers, pulleys, industrial equipment, machining, welding, assembly, or engineered-to-order products. Experience supporting both make-to-order and make-to-stock production environments. Experience with production orders, bills of material, routings, work centers, inventory transactions, cycle times, labor reporting, and production scheduling. Lean manufacturing, 5S, root-cause analysis, corrective action, safety leadership, KPI management, and capacity-improvement experience. Experience supporting capital projects, equipment installation, facility improvements, preventive maintenance, or production layout improvements. Experience leading cross-functional improvement efforts involving Production, Engineering, Quality, Scheduling, Procurement, Shipping, Maintenance, and Leadership. Success in This Role Success in this position will be measured by the Plant Manager's ability to improve plant safety, quality, production flow, throughput, schedule execution, on-time delivery, labor utilization, lead times, equipment readiness, ERP accuracy, and communication between departments. Key success factors include reduced production disruptions, stronger shop-floor accountability, improved schedule discipline, better order readiness, lower scrap and rework, improved cost control, and consistent support of customer commitments. Attendance and Work Schedule This is a full-time, on-site position. Regular and consistent attendance is required during normal business hours, with flexibility for occasional overtime, early starts, late stays, weekend work, or schedule adjustments based on production requirements, equipment issues, customer needs, project deadlines, or business priorities.
