Job Description:
Plant manager directs all daily facility operations, including production, safety compliance, quality control, and budgeting. They coordinate production schedules, manage profit and loss (P&L) performance, lead continuous improvement methods like Lean or Six Sigma, and supervise cross-functional teams and department managers.
Core Responsibilities Operations & Production:
Direct manufacturing workflows to hit output targets safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Safety & Compliance:
Enforce OSHA guidelines, environmental rules, and internal safety programs on the shop floor.
Financial Management:
Build and manage the annual plant operating budget, control labor costs, and track P&L metrics.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure finished goods meet strict quality standards and lead root-cause analysis when defects occur.
Continuous Improvement:
Implement Lean, Six Sigma, or similar manufacturing excellence systems to minimize waste.
Team Leadership:
Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate department managers, shift supervisors, and support staff.
Key Requirements & Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related technical field (Master's preferred).
Experience:
7 to 10+ years of progressive manufacturing experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership or departmental management role.
Technical Skills:
Deep knowledge of plant operations, ERP software (e.g., SAP), and reading manufacturing schematics or blueprints.
Methodologies:
Certified or experienced in Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
Soft Skills:
Exceptional problem-solving, active floor presence, and cross-functional communication abilities.
