Food Manufacturing / Frozen Foods About the Role Shine Industries is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operations at a growing USDA-regulated food manufacturing facility in Bethel, CT. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing production, managing approximately 25 employees, coordinating daily schedules, and making sure production goals, staffing, quality, and food safety requirements are consistently met. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being on the production floor, knows how to lead people, understands food manufacturing and USDA requirements, and can bring structure and accountability to a growing operation. You will work directly with executive leadership to plan production, improve processes, develop employees, and help build the systems needed to support continued growth. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily manufacturing and production operations to ensure customer orders and production goals are met. Lead, organize, and manage approximately 25 production employees. Develop daily and weekly production and employee schedules based on orders, staffing, and production requirements. Assign employees to production teams and provide direction to supervisors and team members. Monitor production throughout the day and adjust staffing, priorities, and workflow as needed. Work closely with executive leadership to plan production capacity and meet current and future demand. Hold employees accountable for attendance, performance, productivity, communication, and company policies. Coordinate with purchasing, inventory, sanitation, maintenance, quality, and food safety to keep production running efficiently. Identify operational issues and implement practical solutions to improve productivity, labor utilization, organization, and workflow. Ensure production activities comply with USDA regulations, HACCP programs, GMPs, sanitation requirements, and company food safety procedures . Ensure production, food safety, and regulatory records are completed accurately and on time. Support USDA inspections, customer audits, corrective actions, and regulatory reviews. Assist with HACCP documentation, pre-shipment review, product release, traceability, and other food safety requirements. Provide backup support for critical food safety and compliance responsibilities when needed. Help develop SOPs, employee training, accountability systems, and operational processes as the company grows. Lead by example and maintain a strong presence on the production floor. Required Qualifications 3+ years of supervisory or management experience in food manufacturing, food production, or a closely related manufacturing environment. Experience managing production employees and coordinating multiple production activities. Strong understanding of USDA-regulated food manufacturing operations . HACCP Certification is required. PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification/qualification is required , or demonstrated equivalent experience with FDA Preventive Controls. Knowledge of GMPs, sanitation, traceability, food safety documentation, and regulatory recordkeeping . Experience with production scheduling, staffing, workflow, and employee accountability. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability and willingness to work directly on the production floor. Ability to work in a fast-paced, growing manufacturing environment where priorities can change quickly. Preferred Qualifications Experience in frozen food, prepared foods, meal production, or similar food manufacturing. Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or Regulatory experience. Experience with SQF or other GFSI food safety programs . Experience participating in USDA inspections, audits, corrective actions, or regulatory reviews. Experience developing SOPs, training programs, and operational processes. What We're Looking For The right person will be more than someone who simply manages a production schedule.
