Employee Perks & Discounts on vacations, events, and more American Steel and Aluminum is seeking a Project Manager to oversee customer projects from award through shipment.
This position will coordinate closely with engineering, purchasing, production, powder coating, shipping, quality, and accounting to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to customer specifications. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role that requires strong schedule management, customer communication, and the ability to resolve issues before they impact delivery. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and delivery dates. Create and release project work orders in the ERP/MRP system. Monitor project progress and develop recovery plans when delays occur. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers. Provide weekly customer status updates and communicate risks, changes, and schedule impacts. Coordinate engineering, purchasing, production, powder coating, shipping, and quality activities. Review material requirements and expedite purchased materials and subcontract services. Monitor long-lead items and resolve shortages or supplier issues. Manage drawing revisions, change orders, and project documentation. Track project costs, labor consumption, and margins. Identify risks, resolve issues, and escalate critical concerns when necessary. Support production priorities and drive on-time delivery. Provide project status reports and maintain action-item logs. Qualifications 2-4 years of project management experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, or a related industrial environment preferred. Experience with ERP/MRP systems and work-order creation. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production scheduling. Experience with material expediting, customer communication, and change-order management. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Project or similar scheduling tools. Experience with ERP systems is a plus. What Success Looks Like Projects delivered on time.
