Job Description

An award-winning contract manufacturer is hiring an Operations Manager to lead its Power Grid Division. This is a hands-on, on-site leadership role overseeing a growing production operation supporting transformer tank fabrication and related components for the power grid industry one of the fastest-growing segments in manufacturing today, driven by power grid, data center, and EV charging demand. You'll lead a team of 20 (with growth expected to 40+ within the year) across laser cutting, CNC machining, forming, welding, powder coating, assembly, and shipping. This is a high-volume, high production environment (4,000+ units/year) offering more predictability and stability than a typical custom job shop, while still giving you real ownership over a facility project and the build-out of a growing second shift.
What You'll Do:
Lead daily plant operations across all production functions in the building Manage and grow a two-shift operation, with input into shift structure as the team scales Drive safety culture — protocols, audits, and training Own production scheduling, labor planning, and equipment utilization Track and improve KPIs (OEE, scrap rate, on-time delivery, labor efficiency) Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the plant Partner with supply chain, engineering, quality, and business development teams Recruit, develop, and mentor supervisory and hourly staff Participate in budget development and cost control
What We're Looking For:
7+ years of manufacturing experience, including 3+ years in a plant or operations leadership role (strong equivalent experience considered) A self-starter who thrives operating independently and driving change without close oversight Proven ability to build trust and rally a team through strong, hands-on leadership Comfort managing a high-volume, repeat-order production environment Strong process improvement and change-leadership skills Nice to
Have:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field Background in power grid, transformer, or heavy electrical equipment manufacturing Familiarity with metal fabrication processes (laser cutting, brake forming, MIG/TIG welding, CNC machining, coating/finishing) ERP system experience Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement certification/training

$85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
