Job Description

As a Superintendent, you will lead the Converting Department to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient production. You'll oversee daily operations, lead and develop the department team, and work closely with other departments to meet production goals, maintain plant standards, and support continuous improvement.
What You'll Do:
Lead Supervisors and hourly employees across all shifts, ensuring consistent safety, quality, production, and housekeeping standards.

Maintain a strong presence on the production floor, providing real-time operational oversight and support to the Converting team.

Coordinate the performance of all shifts to ensure production schedules and department goals are met safely and efficiently.

Communicate plant standards, production expectations, and priorities clearly to the Converting team.

Work closely with Scheduling, Maintenance, and other departments to coordinate production needs and address issues that affect department performance.

Monitor production performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and communicate significant mechanical, scheduling, personnel, or operational concerns to plant leadership.

Ensure appropriate staffing, training, and cross-training within the department.

Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and support employee development and skill growth.

Work closely with Maintenance to coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance and minimize production downtime.

Monitor equipment performance and ensure issues affecting production receive prompt attention.

Support and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on production efficiency, quality, waste reduction, and equipment reliability.

Participate in the Safety Committee and promote a strong safety culture throughout the department.

Maintain compliance with company policies, safety programs, and housekeeping standards.

Build positive working relationships across departments and address employee concerns and conflicts appropriately.

Represent the Converting department professionally when interacting with customers or other external partners as needed.

Maintain required documentation and reporting.

Serve as a visible example of professionalism, accountability, punctuality, and consistent leadership.

Support continuous improvement efforts and assist with additional responsibilities as business needs require.
What You'll Bring:
High school diploma or GED required; additional education or technical training preferred.

Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

Experience leading production teams across multiple shifts preferred.

Corrugated or converting experience strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, safety, quality, and production processes.

Strong communication, coaching, and employee relations skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced production environment.

Ability to build effective working relationships across departments and hold teams accountable to established expectations.

What to Expect on the
Job:
This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You'll spend significant time on the production floor working directly with Supervisors and employees, monitoring operations, addressing issues, and supporting production goals, with time in the office for planning, communication, documentation, and administrative responsibilities.

You'll work around moving mechanical equipment where noise, dust, vibration, and other typical manufacturing conditions are present. Our facility is not climate-controlled, so temperatures may vary throughout the year. Required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, safety glasses, and protective footwear, must be worn in designated areas. Schedule flexibility may be required to support production needs, including occasional weekends.
