Role Overview The Manufacturing Manager - Paper Machine is tasked with providing strategic direction and oversight for manufacturing activities while managing a team of experienced supervisors and staff. You will be held accountable for financial and operational outcomes, personnel management, production scheduling, technical troubleshooting, and overall departmental success. The ideal candidate will possess significant manufacturing leadership experience, a strong background in process and people management, and comprehensive technical knowledge. Your Responsibilities Direct manufacturing workflows while providing mentorship to supervisors and skilled staff. Drive improvements in operational and financial metrics within your designated area to boost overall productivity. Provide coaching and development to at least two direct reports to help them reach their full potential. Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, training, performance management, and recognition. Take charge of one or more operating sections or a smaller department. Adapt departmental strategies and priorities to effectively navigate immediate production obstacles. Act as a technical advisor to help the team meet production schedules and overcome complex hurdles. Analyze intricate operational challenges to implement effective solutions that meet technical and manufacturing standards. Create and oversee production schedules and performance benchmarks. Assist with the management of departmental budgets as necessary. Ensure that all organizational policies and procedures are consistently applied across your work areas. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align manufacturing efforts with broader business goals. Coordinate with internal staff and external partners to address scheduling and operational conflicts. Represent the department by participating in and leading internal and external meetings. Maintain strict adherence to plant regulations, hygiene standards, and Safe Quality Food (SQF) protocols to ensure a safe environment. Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective measures following customer feedback or SQF audit findings. Proactively identify and escalate any conditions that might compromise food safety or violate SQF procedures. Qualifications Extensive background in manufacturing and operations management. Demonstrated strength in leading both processes and personnel. Deep technical knowledge relevant to a manufacturing setting. Proven experience in the supervision of experienced professionals or team leaders. A track record of meeting or exceeding financial and operational targets. Comprehensive knowledge of production scheduling and manufacturing workflows. Ability to resolve complex technical and operational problems to ensure smooth production. Experience in fostering employee growth to elevate team performance. Strong business acumen combined with a results-driven leadership style. Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Effective negotiation and influencing capabilities. Proven ability to collaborate across departments and communicate with diverse stakeholders. Experience working within SQF standards or food-safe manufacturing environments is a plus. Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 15 years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with 13 years of relevant experience. Compensation The expected salary range for this position is $117,100-$140,000.
