Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Shop Foreman with a strong background in shop maintenance to join our growing team. The Shop Foreman is a hands‑on leader responsible for directing daily shop activities, supporting a team of technicians, and maintaining a large fleet of heavy construction equipment and vehicles. This role ensures repairs are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with company safety and operational standards.
Daily Responsibilities:
Verify each tech has assigned work to start each day. Distributes work assignments daily and reviews the scope of work and the estimated time to complete repairs with the technicians. Assists shop technicians with repairs billing time to each job. Maintain 70% billable time. Make sure techs complete their stories on work orders. Collect and ship all oil samples. Assists shop technicians to prepare parts orders. Submit P.O. to parts to verify all parts and returns are posted correctly. Oversee the documentation of rental damage with pictures. Submit damage repair estimates to Operations Manager. Contact vendors to order tools, supplies, waste disposal and sublet services. Assist in Conducting Monthly Safety meetings. Assists the equipment manager in developing the following days' work plan. Ensures proper priority is assigned to wash area. Adjusts the schedule as necessary and immediately notifies the equipment manager of changes. Keeps equipment manager informed of progress or delays during the repair process. Procures special tools and materials for technicians. Checks on each jobs progress daily. (Shop Foreman should be checking hourly per day) Assists with troubleshooting and technical information. Communicates with manufacturers for technical information and assistance. Utilizes Komtrax to determine parts that may be needed for field repair. Out-going inspections are documented and approved prior to any machine leaving the yard. Approve work orders prior to signing off to ensure accuracy of quotes, labor story.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
3-5 years of experience as a shop foreman or similar managing technicians. Requires general knowledge of engines, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic systems, and components. General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software, and cranes and rigging equipment. This position requires the ability to provide accurate information to management for quoting. Must be able to obtain or currently possess adequate tooling to perform all assigned duties. Must be at least 21 to be assigned and operate field vehicle Will be certified prior to operating a forklift and/or man lift May be required to complete DOT physical May require MSHA certification Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work, required overtime and on-call.
