PFC Metal is looking for an experienced Structural & Misc Steel Erection Lead to join our growing team. We are seeking a proven field leader with 6+ years of structural and misc steel fabrication and erection experience who knows how to run a crew, maintain a schedule, coordinate with other trades, and deliver quality work safely and efficiently. This is not simply an installer position. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the jobsite —planning the work, leading the crew, communicating with project management and customers, identifying problems before they become delays, and making sure the finished product represents the standard PFC Metal expects. The right candidate will have strong mechanical and fabrication knowledge, experience working from structural drawings and specifications, and a solid understanding of OSHA construction safety requirements. What You'll Do Lead and supervise structural steel erection and installation crews in the field. Plan daily field activities, assign manpower, and keep projects moving toward scheduled milestones and completion dates. Coordinate effectively with general contractors, superintendents, project managers, customers, crane operators, and other trades. Read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, erection drawings, details, and project specifications. Identify field conflicts, dimensional issues, and installation challenges and work with project management to develop solutions quickly. Verify field dimensions, elevations, layouts, and structural component placement prior to and during installation. Direct and participate in structural steel erection, miscellaneous metals, handrail, stairs, and related installation work. Safely operate and oversee the use of welding equipment, torches, saws, power tools, hand tools, lifts, and other field equipment. Coordinate crane picks, rigging activities, material staging, and installation sequencing. Maintain a productive jobsite while never sacrificing workmanship or safety for speed. Enforce company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements. Inspect completed work to ensure it meets drawings, specifications, quality expectations, and project requirements. Maintain clear communication with PFC Metal's project management team regarding progress, manpower, materials, equipment needs, delays, and jobsite conditions. Represent PFC Metal professionally when communicating with customers, contractors, inspectors, and other trades. What We're Looking For 6+ years of structural steel erection and/or installation experience required. Previous experience leading a field crew or serving as a foreman/lead installer strongly preferred. Strong understanding of structural steel erection, miscellaneous metals, welding, fabrication, rigging, and field installation. Ability to confidently read and work from structural, architectural, shop, and erection drawings. Working knowledge of welding processes including FCAW and SMAW , with familiarity with AWS requirements. Strong layout, measurement, and construction math skills. Experience with cranes, rigging, aerial lifts, and material-handling equipment. Working knowledge of OSHA construction and steel erection safety requirements. Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability. Ability to organize crews, prioritize work, and maintain production schedules. Ability to communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, project managers, and other trades. Willingness to be hands-on and work alongside the crew when needed. Valid driver's license and dependable attendance. The Person We're Looking For We want someone who takes pride in seeing a project through from start to finish. You should be comfortable leading from the front , holding yourself and your crew accountable, solving problems in the field, and making decisions that keep the project moving without compromising safety or workmanship. At PFC Metal, we are continuing to grow our structural and miscellaneous steel capabilities. We want experienced people who are interested in building something with us—not simply filling a position. If you have the experience to lead a crew, understand the responsibility that comes with running a jobsite, and believe that quality and efficiency can go hand in hand, we'd like to talk with you. Join PFC Metal and help us build with integrity, one project at a time.
