DESCRIPTION
How you will make an impact: You will provide hands-on leadership to farm employees, oversee animal care, and ensure all team members follow established protocols and safety requirements while maintaining high production standards.
What you will do:
Daily Production and Operations Ensure daily production goals and required farm activities are completed accurately and on time Plan and prioritize work based on production needs, staffing levels, animal needs, and changing conditions Monitor progress throughout the day and make adjustments when production is falling behind Identify operational issues and take action to prevent delays or disruptions Communicate expectations clearly to employees at the beginning of and throughout each shift Ensure work areas, equipment, and facilities are maintained in proper working condition Employee Leadership and Staffing Assign employees to tasks based on their individual strengths, experience, training, and operational needs Move and reassign employees throughout the day as workloads and priorities change Provide clear direction and ensure employees understand their responsibilities Monitor employee performance, productivity, attendance, and quality of work Coach and train employees when performance or knowledge gaps are identified Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a positive work environment Address performance or behavioral concerns promptly and communicate significant issues to leadership Animal Care and Welfare Oversee the daily care, feeding, handling, and general well-being of all animals Ensure employees follow established animal care and welfare standards Regularly observe animals and identify signs of illness, injury, stress, or other concerns Ensure animal health concerns are reported and addressed according to established procedures Verify that appropriate feed, water, housing, environmental conditions, and sanitation are maintained Ensure animals are handled safely, respectfully, and consistently with established animal welfare practices Protocols, Procedures, and Compliance Ensure employees understand and consistently follow all farm protocols, standard operating procedures, and work instructions Reinforce biosecurity, sanitation, animal welfare, safety, and quality requirements Monitor employee compliance and immediately correct practices that do not meet established standards Ensure required records, production information, animal care documentation, and paperwork are completed accurately and on time Assist with training employees on new or revised procedures Lead by example by consistently following all farm policies and procedures Safety and Facility Oversight Promote a safe working environment and ensure employees follow established safety procedures Identify unsafe conditions or practices and take appropriate corrective action Ensure tools and equipment are used properly and report maintenance or repair needs Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation throughout farm facilities Immediately communicate significant safety, animal welfare, equipment, staffing, or production concerns to leadership Lead by example and maintain a professional attitude Hold employees accountable while treating them fairly and respectfully Recognize individual employee strengths and use those strengths to improve overall team performance Communicate clearly and consistently Address problems rather than allowing them to continue Balance production requirements with animal welfare, employee safety, and quality expectations Take ownership of the overall performance of the farm during assigned working hours
REQUIREMENTS
How you will get here: Experience and Skills HS Diploma Required 3-5 years of farm, livestock, agricultural experience preferred 3-5 years leadership experience preferred Previous farm, livestock, agricultural, or related operational experience preferred Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and adjust quickly when conditions change Ability to effectively lead, coach, and direct employees Strong observation and problem-solving skills Ability to understand and consistently enforce written protocols and procedures Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions Dependable and willing to work the schedule necessary to support farm operations, including weekends or holidays when required Physical Requirements Ability to work in a farm environment and around animals Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to bend, reach, climb, and perform physical farm-related activities as required Ability to safely lift and move materials consistent with the requirements of the operation Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions Measures of Success
