Job Description

Mid-Land Enterprises is a leader in industrial maintenance, fabrication, millwright services, and metal building construction throughout the Midwest. We are currently seeking a driven and experienced Fabrication Division Operations Coordinator to lead our fabrication division.
Position Summary:
This strategic leadership role reports directly to the Director of Operations and is responsible for the overall performance, production, safety, staffing, quality, and operational execution of the fabrication department. The Fabrication Operations Coordinator will oversee one Project Manager, multiple fabrication leads, and approximately twenty-plus fabricators operating across multiple shifts and production workflows. This individual will be responsible for developing personnel, maintaining operational accountability, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring fabrication projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and with world-class quality. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in steel fabrication, manufacturing operations, industrial construction support, welding operations, or fabrication management. This role requires a leader capable of balancing production demands, personnel development, quality control, equipment utilization, and operational strategy in Primary Responsibilities Hold authority over hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, terminations, personnel development, and performance evaluations within the division. Build and maintain a culture focused on safety, accountability, quality, integrity, professionalism, commitment, and continuous improvement. Establish clear production expectations, labor targets, throughput goals, and operational priorities utilizing EOS/Traction principles. Ensure adequate staffing levels, succession planning, and leadership development within the fabrication department. Maintain division training plans and coordinate employee certifications, qualifications, and skills development. Ensure production deadlines and customer delivery schedules are achieved. Monitor workflow bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve throughput and efficiency. Work closely with the Project Manager, Sales, Supply Chain, Drafting, and Field Operations to align fabrication schedules with project demands. Support the development and implementation of fabrication SOPs, quality standards, and production workflows. Ensure fabricated components meet customer specifications, engineering requirements, welding standards, and Mid-Land quality expectations. Participate in root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions related to fabrication deficiencies. Collaborate with Quality Control personnel and field teams to ensure fabricated assemblies support successful field installation. Maintain professional communication with customers, vendors, engineers, subcontractors, and the other divisions within the company. Participate in operational synchronization meetings, production meetings, quality meetings, and strategic planning sessions. Utilize Procore, Excel, production tracking systems, ERP systems, and fabrication workflows to manage operational performance. Maintain a safety-first culture throughout all fabrication operations. Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, company safety procedures, welding safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, rigging standards, and overhead crane safety practices. Required Skills & Qualifications Degree in Construction Management, Manufacturing Management, Industrial Technology, Welding Technology, or equivalent relevant experience preferred. Proven leadership experience managing fabrication shops, manufacturing operations, or industrial production environments. Strong understanding of welding processes, blueprint reading, and shop operations. Experience leading supervisors, leads, welders, fitters, and fabrication personnel. Ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and production demands simultaneously. Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills. Proficiency with Procore, Excel, ERP systems, and operational tracking software preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to drive accountability while maintaining a positive and professional culture. Strong understanding of safety requirements related to fabrication and manufacturing operations. Solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to quickly resolve operational challenges.
