Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Kill Floor Foreman to lead and oversee all operations on the slaughter floor within a fast-moving slaughter and processing operation. This pivotal role involves leading and supervising the kill floor team, ensuring employee safety and regulatory compliance, coordinating daily production, and maintaining high standards for product quality and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, ability to work around livestock, experience in a slaughter or meat processing environment, and a thorough understanding of food safety, sanitation, and USDA requirements. As a Kill Floor Foreman, you will oversee daily kill floor operations, support and train employees, maintain production standards, and work closely with management and USDA inspection personnel to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant operation. Duties Lead and supervise kill floor employees, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to company procedures and USDA requirements. Coordinate and perform daily kill floor activities and employee assignments to maintain an efficient production flow. Monitor and perform animal handling, slaughter, dressing, and carcass preparation procedures to ensure proper execution and product quality. Ensure employees follow all food safety, sanitation, GMP, SSOP, and HACCP procedures. Conduct routine inspections of the kill floor and equipment to ensure cleanliness, proper operation, and compliance with company and regulatory standards. Work closely with USDA inspection personnel to address questions, concerns, and regulatory requirements. Monitor carcass handling, trimming, identification, and product flow to ensure accuracy and traceability. Train new and existing employees on proper procedures, equipment operation, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety. Provide direction and feedback to employees and assist with performance management, coaching, and conflict resolution as needed. Identify production issues or delays and work with management to develop and implement solutions. Ensure equipment, tools, and work areas are properly maintained and report maintenance or repair needs promptly. Maintain accurate production, temperature, sanitation, and other required records. Assist with implementing and maintaining company SOPs, SSOPs, HACCP procedures, and other food safety programs. Promote a clean, safe, and professional work environment while maintaining a strong focus on employee safety and product quality. Communicate effectively with management, production employees, and other departments to ensure smooth daily operations. Qualifications Previous experience in a slaughterhouse, meat processing facility, or similar production environment preferred. Previous supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of slaughter and carcass dressing procedures. Understanding of USDA inspection requirements, food safety, sanitation, GMPs, SSOPs, and HACCP principles. Ability to lead, train, and motivate a production team in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to identify and address production, quality, safety, and employee issues. Ability to follow written procedures and accurately complete required records. Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and food safety. Ability to work effectively with USDA inspection personnel and company management. Ability to work in a physically demanding, refrigerated production environment. Ability to work early mornings and extended hours as needed based on production schedules. Must be dependable, responsible, and able to maintain a professional attitude in a fast-paced work environment.
