Job Description

At Xdesk , we manufacture award-winning, power-adjustable desks and workstations in Central Texas. Our products combine precision mechanical assembly, electric actuators, and electronic controls, with many built to individual customer specifications. We are looking for a hands-on Production Manager to lead our assembly operation as we expand into a larger facility. You will have the autonomy to organize daily production, develop your team, improve assembly methods, and take ownership of results. This is a working leadership role. Expect to spend approximately 90% of your time on the production floor , working alongside your team, solving problems, inspecting products, and demonstrating how the work should be done. Why this opportunity stands out Meaningful authority. Take ownership of daily production and help shape how the operation runs. Your ideas for improving quality, workflow, and productivity will be an important part of the job. Work you can take pride in. Build premium, American-made products that combine craftsmanship and technology. A small team with visible impact. See the results of your leadership in the people you develop, the products you build, and the orders you deliver. Performance bonus opportunity and medical benefits. Bring your leadership and technical ability to a role where your contribution matters. What you will own Daily production and on-time delivery. Set priorities, assign work, track order progress, and resolve bottlenecks so the team meets its daily production commitments. Hands-on assembly and troubleshooting. Learn our products and assembly processes thoroughly. Work alongside the team and become the go-to resource for build questions and technical problems. Product quality. Establish clear assembly and inspection standards, verify fit, finish, and function, and correct the causes of defects rather than repeatedly fixing the same problems. Team leadership and accountability. Train employees, demonstrate proper techniques, set clear expectations, and provide direct, respectful feedback. Recognize strong performance and address problems promptly and consistently. Productivity and labor efficiency. Improve work methods, reduce rework and wasted time, and meet production goals while keeping labor costs within budget. A safe, organized operation. Maintain orderly work areas, reinforce safe practices, and help establish effective workflows as we expand into our larger facility. What you bring Proven hands-on leadership: Experience leading an assembly, manufacturing, or shop team—not just performing the work yourself.
Strong mechanical and technical ability:
Confidence using tools, understanding how components fit and function, and diagnosing assembly problems. The ability to teach and hold standards: You can explain a process, demonstrate it, verify that someone has learned it, and follow through when expectations are not met.
Practical production discipline:
You can organize competing priorities, track progress, communicate clearly, and keep a team focused on quality and delivery. Experience with assembly, CNC machine shops, metalworking, woodworking, or custom-product manufacturing is especially relevant. Experienced production supervisors, assembly leads, and shop foremen who are ready for broader responsibility are encouraged to apply. Your ability to lead people, solve problems, and improve production matters more than your previous title. What success looks like You will be accountable for three core results: on-time delivery, product quality, and labor productivity. Our delivery target is 98% of orders on time , supported by consistent workmanship, less rework, and daily production goals achieved within the labor budget. Just as importantly, you will build a team that understands the standards, has the training to meet them, and takes pride in its work. Apply Submit your resume highlighting the products you have built, the teams you have led, and any improvements you have made to quality, output, or delivery. Bring your mechanical ability, leadership, and ideas. Help us build the next stage of Xdesk.
