Description We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead workshop operations in Big Spring, Texas and ensure repair activities move forward safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This role partners closely with supervisors, planning, commercial operations, and technical teams to align labor, materials, and equipment with production needs. The ideal candidate will combine strong operational leadership with cost awareness, supplier management, and a commitment to quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Direct daily workshop activities to keep repair and maintenance work progressing on time while making effective use of staffing, equipment, and logistics resources.
Coordinate with technical leadership and planning teams to confirm that labor, parts, tooling, and materials are ready before work begins and to remove constraints that slow production.
Procure shop supplies, replacement parts, tools, and equipment needed to support ongoing repair operations and maintain continuity across projects.
Partner with commercial operations to review labor, material, and overhead expenses, helping maintain cost control and support profitable project execution.
Lead supplier discussions to secure competitive pricing, dependable service, and favorable purchasing terms.
Uphold workplace safety practices and ensure the workshop operates in accordance with required quality expectations and company standards.
Oversee inventory levels for parts, tools, and materials, balancing availability with efficient floor flow to avoid excess buildup in work areas.
Work with technicians and vendors to position the right components at the right time so production remains steady and responsive to demand.
Maintain accurate operational records covering repair activity, stock movement, performance results, and project status reporting for leadership review. Requirements
7+ years of experience managing production, workshop, manufacturing, or repair operations.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, organize workflows, and drive accountability in a hands-on operational environment.
Experience with purchasing, supplier coordination, and negotiation for materials, parts, tools, or equipment.
Strong understanding of cost control, resource planning, and operational metrics related to labor, materials, and throughput.
Working knowledge of inventory management practices and supply chain coordination in a production or maintenance setting.
Familiarity with workplace safety requirements and quality compliance standards within an industrial or workshop environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare reports and collaborate across operations, planning, and commercial teams.
