Job Description

About the Role Takt Engineering is hiring a Mechanical Planner to build out mechanical work instructions, routings, and engineering data for a client's production facility in Costa Mesa. You'll take engineering drawings, 3D models, and BOMs and turn them into work instructions the shop floor can actually run with, and keep that documentation in sync as the build progresses. Good fit if you've got hands-on manufacturing or fabrication experience, are comfortable moving between CAD data and the shop floor, and want to help plan and sequence production for large-scale hardware. Job Responsibilities Convert mechanical drawings and 3D CAD models (NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent) into clear work instructions for the shop floor. Distribute work instructions, drawings, and specs to shop-floor stations, and keep them current as revisions land. Build and maintain MBOMs and keep them aligned with EBOMs in the PLM system (Teamcenter preferred). Set up and maintain the sequencing and quality checkpoints that keep work steps on track. Work with engineers, planners, and production teams to keep documentation accurate. Track engineering changes and update documentation as the build progresses. Required Qualifications 5+ years of manufacturing planning experience in complex, large-scale manufacturing, fabrication, or NPI ramp-ups. Can read and interpret mechanical drawings and specs. Comfortable in NX, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools for pulling and managing design data. Has built and managed MBOMs and aligned them to EBOMs. Has written work instructions and routings, with hands-on fabrication experience. Experience with PLM and MES systems; Teamcenter and common MES platforms strongly preferred. Strong attention to detail and clear technical communication, especially when translating engineering intent for the shop floor. Based in or willing to work locally in Costa Mesa, CA. Preferred Qualifications Background in large-scale, complex mechanical or fabrication production environments. Experience with configuration management and revision control. Time spent in digital manufacturing or production planning environments. Has defined operational sequences for building hardware at scale and supported production readiness in a fast-moving environment.
