Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (Overtime available) About the Role Our metal fabrication shop is seeking a dependable Shop Helper eager to break into the structural steel fabrication and construction industry. This is an entry-level position perfect for someone looking to learn a trade, build skills on the job, and grow within the company. Comprehensive onsite training is provided. Key Responsibilities Shop Maintenance & Housekeeping Keep production areas clean, swept, and free of debris. Maintain work areas around shop machinery (saws, punches, plasma units). Perform weekly trash removal and general shop upkeep. Assist in cleaning and maintaining machines for safe operation. Production & Fabrication Support Assist fabricators on the shop floor with grinding, deburring, and holding material in place. Help gather, prep, and position parts for production runs. Safety & Material Handling Assist forklift operators by spotting blind spots, placing dunnage under loads, and fetching rigging supplies. Adhere to all shop safety guidelines and maintain awareness of shop equipment and surroundings. Qualifications Strong willingness to learn, ask questions, and develop skills in the steel trade. High attention to detail and strong spatial/safety awareness. Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a steady workflow. Ability to lift, bend, stand, and perform physical shop labor throughout the shift. English proficiency is required; Spanish language skills are a strong plus.
