Responsibilities Perform clothing alterations and repairs with precision, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, replacing zippers, and resizing garments. Use sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and pressing machines to achieve flawless finishes on all types of apparel. Operate pressing machines and press garments to ensure crisp, professional presentation. Collaborate with customers to understand their specific tailoring needs and provide expert advice on garment adjustments. Maintain a thorough understanding of different fabric materials and garment construction techniques to ensure appropriate handling and alteration methods. Manage multiple alteration projects efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail. Keep work areas organized, clean, and stocked with necessary supplies for seamless workflow. Qualifications Proven experience in clothing alterations, garment sewing, or tailoring within a fashion retail environment. Skilled in using sewing machines, pressing machines, and hand sewing tools for various fabric types. Strong knowledge of fabric materials, stitching techniques, and garment construction principles. Ability to operate pressing equipment safely and effectively. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly about alteration options and timelines. Basic math skills for measuring and calculating adjustments accurately. Familiarity with men's wear tailoring, women's wear tailoring, and custom apparel production is preferred but not required.
